WOODFORD United crashed out of the FA Cup at Raunds Town on Tuesday.
The Byfield Road club drew 0-0 at Raunds Town in Tuesday's FA Cup Preliminary Round replay, beaten 4-3 in the penalty shoot-out.

Woodford earned a second bite at the cherry after Andrew Stidder converted a stoppage-time penalty in Saturday's first
meeting at Byfield Road.

Woodford, impressive in their recent previous FA Cup runs, looked like falling at the first hurdle, when an encouraged Raunds side finished the first-half 1-0 up, thanks to a powerful header from the excellent Cavell Jarvis. The young Raunds side left the pitch at halftime positive and clearly looking forward to the next round.

The second half started poorly with neither side showing any commitment. A succession of uninspired football by Woodford, gave Raunds Town the edge midway through the second half, pushing constantly on the ailing Woodford defence. United's woodwork and a busy keeper kept the tie at 1-0 late on into the game.

Defender Danny Hicks was sent up to a makeshift striker's role to add height, support and spirit, which subsequently led to a late penalty, awarded three minutes into stoppage-time. After the Raunds team were calmed down by the referee, Stidder rattled the ball home off of the hands of keeper Michael Hearn.
